Why Parents Who Dig Deeper
Choose BANZ®

The truth about baby earmuff safety claims — and how to tell real protection from marketing fluff.

🏆
The Bump Editor's Pick — Best Baby Headphones for Sleeping BANZ® Baby Earmuffs, selected 2025

We're honored that BANZ® Baby Earmuffs were selected as The Bump's Editor's Pick for Best Baby Headphones for Sleeping. But recognition like this is also a reminder of something most parents don't realize: not every baby earmuff brand on a "best of" list meets the same standard of testing and transparency.

What to Watch For

Before You Buy, Ask These Questions

The children's hearing protection market includes a wide range of brands, and Noise Reduction Ratings (NRR) are often the headline number on the package. The challenge is that a printed number isn't proof of anything on its own — it's only meaningful if it comes from genuine, independent lab testing.

  • No test results available on request. If a brand can't produce documentation showing where their NRR rating came from, that's worth pausing on.
  • Vague or unverifiable testing claims. "Lab tested" without naming the lab, the standard, or the date of testing tells you very little.
  • No testing at all. Some budget and off-brand earmuffs carry a printed NRR with no testing process behind it whatsoever.

A naming tip: "Alpine Hearing Protection" is not affiliated with the well-known electronics brand Alpine Audio, despite the shared name. It's worth knowing the difference so a familiar-sounding name doesn't get mistaken for an established engineering pedigree it doesn't have.

The BANZ® Difference

Transparent. Tested. Trusted for 25+ Years.

  • Independently tested and certified. All BANZ® Baby Earmuffs are tested to meet ANSI S3.19/S12.6 (US) and EN 352-1:2020 (Europe) standards by accredited labs.
  • Verified NRR, never inflated. Our published NRR 26dB rating reflects actual independent lab results — not an estimate, and not a marketing number.
  • Designed for tiny ears. Soft padding, calibrated clamping force, and baby-safe materials mean comfort and protection work together, not against each other.

We believe protecting children means more than just blocking sound — it means giving parents information they can actually verify. That's why we've always made our testing documentation available on request, and why BANZ® has been trusted by families for over 25 years.

"An award tells you what one editor thought on one day. Testing documentation tells you what's actually inside the box."

After the Purchase

An Award Is a Nice Start. It's Not the Finish Line.

We're proud of the recognition — but we know the real measure of a brand is what happens after the sale. Unlike companies that disappear once the transaction is done, BANZ® is here for the long run: answering questions, supporting replacement parts, and continuing to improve how we protect kids through every stage and every adventure.

So if you're comparing options from a "best of" list, we'd genuinely encourage you to dig deeper. Look past the badge on the page. Ask for testing documentation. Ask what the NRR number actually means and where it came from. Then decide for yourself.
